Dear Parents/Guardians,
Every year on September 15th, educators around the world celebrate International Dot Day by making time to encourage their students’ creativity and genius potential. Inspired by Peter H. Reynolds treasured story, The Dot, students are encouraged to “make their mark” by starting simply with a dot and then seeing where that dot takes them. West Cedar will be celebrating this year in Art Class. We will be making a “dot” that is 2 dimensional, and then using an app on the ipads called “Quiver” to turn their “flat” circle drawings into 3 dimensional spheres. You can work with this app at home, as well. If you don’t own an ipad, ipod, or iphone you can still check it all out at http://quivervision.com/. There are many coloring pages on the website that you can use to create more art at home. We work hard on our creativity and individuality every time your child is in art; thanks for always encouraging your child to continue this in their lives every day. Your art teacher, Angie Steuer |
Quiver AppAll of the students got a chance to use the "Quiver" app on the iPad. This took a 2D image of a circle and made it into a 3D image of a shpere, on the iPad screen.

Connecting with other schoolsWe had a chance to FaceTime with other schools and share what our schools are like and what our special dots looked like:

Dot Day displayAll of the students and staff at West Cedar decorated a quarter of a dot. Mrs. Carignan's class put them all together for an all school display.
