Classroom Management
Rules for the art room:
I frequently tell my students that I am looking for my real "ARTISTS." They understand what that means because of my poster of my class rules.
West Cedar Elementary:
Fill the Bucket! This is a book that the Guidance Counselor at West Cedar reads to the Kindergarten classes. It's also a management style and a few of the teachers use in their classrooms. These books (videos are of the books) are what I base my Classroom Management off of at West Cedar. I believe that mutual respect and the Golden Rule are very important in our lives... not only in school, but with all of the people we interact with on a daily basis. My hope is that my students put these beliefs into practice so much so that is becomes natural to them to think of the other person's feelings, thoughts, beliefs and practices before they make their own decisions with their actions and words.
west cedar art room:
This is Mrs. Steuer's Bucket. Every time we have art class, the students will do everything they can to make sure their "drop" is FILLING Mrs. Steuer's Bucket. If they mess up and end up on the paint spill, their class clip gets moved to the sad face "paint spill. " The ultimate goal is to leave the art room with their drop FILLING Mrs. Steuer's bucket.
I also have a drop that the students are in charge of... to keep me accountable too.
